The Brussels Grand Place is listed as a world heritage and its buildlings are very of the local architecure. You'll find similar things in the rest of Belgium and the north of France. But this Grand place (understand great square) is really nice. So crowded at that time that it was difficult to shoot pictures.

Le Grand Place de Bruxelles est sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'humanité et ses bâtiments ont l'architecture typique locale. Vous en trouverez de similaires dans le reste de la Belgique et le nord de la France. Mais cette Grand Place est particulièrement élégante. Et tellement bondée en cette saison que j'ai eu du mal à prendre mes photos.

Well, a lot of things could be said and explained about the history of this place, and I'm not going to copy and paste the full wikipedia page about it. What I can say is, although those are nothing but a few huge stones, something mysterious is coming from it, and it feels like the center of it is is the gate to some other mysterious world. And crows would be messengers from there.

Beaucoup de choses pourraient être dites au sujet de ce site, mais je ne vais pas faire un copier-coller de la page wikipedia pour ça. Ce que je peux dire c'est que, bien qu'il ne s'agisse que de quelques enormes pierres, quelque chose de mystérieux s'en dégage, un peu comme s'il s'agissait d'une porte vers un autre monde mystérieux dont les corbeaux seraient les messagers.

I have to say I hesitated a long time before sharing those pictures, due to their poor quality. Those are the very first ones I ever shot with a digital camera. A digital camera wich was a webcam as well, and a cheap one. That's why things got a strange shape, especially this car wich was moving on the road. So here are the very few pictures I shot while visiting London for the second time. If I come back someday, I'll have a decent camera and decent pics.

Je dois dire que j'ai longtemps hésité avant de partager ces photos, en raison de leur mauvaise qualité. Ce sont les toutes premières que j'ai jamais prises avec un apapreil photo digital. Un appareil photo qui me sevrait de webcam par la même occasion, et très bon marché. C'est pourquoi les choses ont parfois une forme bizarre, en particulier cette voiture qui était en mouvement. Donc voici les quelques photos prises à Londres lors de ma seconde visite. Si j'y retourne un jour, ce sera avec un véritable appareil photo pour y faire de vraies photos.

I've been very busy over the last days, and didn't post anything for a while, so here is a big set of pictures about Portsmouth, in the United Kingdom, more precisely in England, where I traveled in total 9 times over 2 years. The reason was simple : the one who's is now my wife and was back then only my girlfriend was a student there.

You can see pictures of the historic dockyards, the Spinnaker tower, the Royal Garrison church, the local seaside, Victoria park, Guildhall, King Henry I street, st Thomas cathedral.

Je me suis trouév très occuppé ces derniers temps, sans avoir le temps de poster quoi que ce soit. Donc voici une grosse série de photos sur Portsmouth, au Royaume-Uni, et plus précisément en Angleterre, où je me suis rendu à 9 reprises en 2 ans. La raison en était simple : celle qui est aujourd'hui moné pouse et n'était à l'époque qu'une copine était étudiante là-bas.

You guesed right : this is another of Gaudi's works. And this is as well the last thing we visited in Barcelona. There are other things to visit, including the cathedral (I visited but didn't have a camera good enough to shoot a decent pic) and the San Pau hospital and the catalan music palace, wich are world heritage (I didn't know about it at that time), but it was time for me to go back to the airport.

Vous avez bien deviné : encore uen oeuvre de Gaudi. Et c'est, de même, la dernière visite effectuée à Barcelone. Il y a d'autres choses à voir, comme la cathédrale (mon appareil photo de l'époque ne m'a permis de prendre quoi que ce soit de correct), l'hopital San Pau et le palais de la musique Catalane (tous sur la liste du patrimoine mondial, et dont je n'avais pas entendu parler à l'époque) mais il était pour moi temps de retourner à l'aéroport.

Well, for who didn't visit there, this is difficult to understand how this is done and you'd better check by yourself. One thing is sure, as this designed by Gaudi, the same architect who designed the Sagrada Familia, everything is very unusual.

I suddenly realized I was done with the Nov. 2011 trip to China I had.

For the ones who used to visit this blog for the pictures from China, I still have the older ones left, once shared on my former blog wich is now deleted by microsoft when they decided to stop this activity. I'll be back with pictures from Yunnan, wich is probably my most memorable trip ever.

Here are some pictures from a trip I had to Spain 3 and half years ago. More precisely I went to Barcelona, the second largest city in Spain. Several of its monumenst are listed as a world heritage, including works from the architect Gaudi. The most famous of his work is the basilica, scheduled to be finished in 2026, exactly the year where the 100th anniversary of gaudi's death will be celebrated. There are thousands of interesting and crazy details and a complete book could be written only about this. Here are a few pictures of it.

je me suis soudainement rendu compte que j'en avais terminé avec le voyage en Chine de novembre 2011. pour ceux qui appréciaient de voir des photos de Chine, j'en ai oujours de vieilles en stock, un temps partagée sur mon ancien blog jusqu'à ce que microsoft l'efface en supprimant cette activité de leur business. Il y a entre autres des photos du Yunnan, qui est certainement mon voyage le plus mémorable à ce jour.

Voici des photos d'un voyage effectué il y a 3 ans et demi en Espagne, plsu précisément à Barcelona, la seconde plus grande ville d'Espagne. Plusieurs de ses monuments sont inscrits à la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'humanité, y compris les oeuvres de l'architecte Gaudi. Son oeuvre la plus célèbre est la basilique de la Sagrada Familia, dont la fin de la construction est prévue en 2026, l'année du centenaire de la mort de Gaudi. Il y a des milliers de détails fous et surprenants, et on pourrait écrire un livre entier à ce sujet. Voici quelques photos.

I can't say a lot about this autonomous region (same status as Tibet and Inner Mongolia) as I didn't visit it (not yet). This is mainly inhabited by Uyghurs, Han and Kazakh and is mainly muslim. The culture is then different from what we can encounter in most of the provinces of China, where Hans are the main population. I was invited in Beijing to a Xinjiang restaurant and in addition of providing Xinjiang food, there were also traditional dances, including arabic musics and belly dance, exactly like what we could see, for instance, in Marocco. Here are some pictures and videos from it.

Some interesting point was the tea mixed with salty butter. I didn't taste the tibetan tea, so I still wonder how different or similar those ones can be.

Je ne peux pas dire grand chose au sujet de cette région autonome (même statut administratif que le Tibet et la Mongolie Intérieure) dans la mesure où je n'y ai pas voyagé (pas encore). C'est principalement habité par des Ouïghours, des hans et de Kazakhs. La culture là-bas y est très différente de ce que l'on peut rencontrer dans la plupart des provinces de Chine, habitées majoritairement par des Hans. J'ai été invité à un restaurant du xinjiang par des amis et, en plus d'y trouver de la nourriture de là-bas, il y avait un court spectacle de danses traditionnelles, y compris musique arabe et une danse du ventre telle qu'on pourrait en voir, par exemple, au Maroc.

Un point intéressant ; la thé mélangé à du beurre salé. Je n'ai pas encore goûté au thé tibétain et je me demande toujours à quel points ces deux-là peuvent être semblables ou différents.

Avant de jeter un coup d'oeil aux vidéos, je vous suggère de faire défiler jusqu'à trouver le lecteur de musique pour le stopper.

Although this popular restaurant from Beijing can host several hundreds customers, we often need to wait 1 hour or more before getting a table, due to the number of people going there. In addition to the very good chinese hot pot provide there, there is an unusual and interesting way to prepare the lamian (hand pulled noodles).
Bien que ce restaurant populaire ait assez d'espace pour plusieurs centaines de clients, il faut souvent attendre une heure pour accéder à une table, en raison du nombre de clients. En plus de la très bonne fondue chinoise que l'on y trouve, la façon de préparer les lamian (nouilles étirées à la min) est assez inhabituelle et intéressante.

I've hear some people, especially in USA, consider France as the country where people eat frogs. China also eats frogs, and complete ones while France only consider the legs. The first picture shows spicy food, the second one shows a frog lying on an already eaten fish.

Je crois que certaines personnes, surtout aux USA, pensent à la France comme au pays où l'on mange des grenouilles. La Chine en consomme aussi, et complètes alors que la France ne s'occupe que des cuisses. Doing sports while visiting China is a very easy thing. Go to any part of the great wall and visit it all within 2 hour or less. Or go to Xiangshan fragrant hill. Or visit Chengde strange rock. You'll end covered with sweat.

Faire du sport tout en visitant la Chine est quelque chose de très facile. Allez à n'importe quelle portion de la grande muraille et visitez là entièrement en 2 heures ou moins. Ou allez à Xiangshan, la colline aux senteurs. Ou à Chengde et son étrange roche.

The great wall at Badaling is the last place I visited in China for the 2011 trip. I had already been there during this first trip to China wich changed my life, since I met the one who became my wife. After 6 years and a half, things changed. This time, another part of the wall could be accessed. And I had a decent camera.

In Japan, on the first of January, people use to go praying in temple and shrines, both buddhists and shintoists. I guess this is the same in China, with the local religions, for the ones who decided to practice one. I've already spent a 1st of January in China, but as my familly in law is not religious, my day was spent in the modern temples from the capitalist religion. I mean shops. Those pictures were shot during a sunday, last November.

Au Japon, le 1er Janvier, les gens ont l'habitude d'aller prier dans les temples eu autels bouddhistes et shintoïstes. Je suppose qu'il en est de même en Chine, avec les religions locales, pour ceux qui ont décidé d'en pratiquer une. J'ai déjà passé un 1er janvier en Chine, mais comme ma belle-famille n'est pas très religieuse, ma journée s'est déroulée dans les temples moderne de la réligion capitaliste. Je veux dire par là les magasins. Ces photos ont été prises un dimanche de Novembre.

Just like in Xiangshan (Fagrant hill) the gold from the sun was captured by trees. At Beijing's lama temple, this gold color is displayed on the trees, on the floor... and even on monks visiting.

I'll soon finish sharing pictures about this trip to China. Until the next trip abroad wich should be in march, I'll use some older pictures I didn't have time to share yet. Next trip to come : Italy, San Marino republic and Vatican city-state. Those two countries will have their page created in the flag-list. As well, July shall take me to Tibet for wich I'll also create a separate page on the list of countries, although today it officially belongs to the PR of China.

Tout comme à Xiangshan (la colline aux senteurs) l'or du soleil a été capturé par les arbres. A la lamasserie bouddhiste de Pekin, l'or est restitué sur les arbres, sur le sol... et même sur les moines bouddhiste.

Je terminerais bientôt de partager les photos issues de ce voyage en Chine. D'ici le prochain voyage à l'étranger qui devrait avoir lieu fin mars, je ressortirais d'anciennes photos pas encore partagées. Voyage à venir : Italy, République de Saint-marin, Etat-cité du Vatican. Ces deux derniers pays verront leur drapeau apparaître dans le menu. De la même façon, Juillet devrait me voir découvrir le Tibet pour lequel je ferais apparaître un drapeau séparé bien qu'il fasse aujourd'hui officiellement partie de la République Populaire de Chine.

There's also a temple on Fragrant Hill. But as you can see on the last picture, only the walls are good to be seen. This is undergoing a heavy refurbishment. It's probably among the numerous things destroyed around here by the french and british armies 150 years ago around here.

Il y a aussi un temple sur ce site. Mais comme vous pouvez le voir sur al dernière photo il n'y a pas grand chose d'autre que les murs à voir. De très importantes rénovations sont en cours. Cela fait probablement partie des nombreuses destructions perpétrées par les armées franco-britaniques dans la région il y a environ 150 ans.

Partout sur terre la même chose se produit. Avec l'arrivée de l'hiver, and ciel de plomb remplaçant le ciel bleu, les arbres se dépèchent de voler un peu de lumière du jour pour la restituer durant les jours d'automne.

Like many other pagan celebrations, Christmas became used by the christian religion, to the point there are even very important masses on this day. As well the red santa klaus is a modern creation originated from Coca-Cola. In China, red is the color of luck and hapiness and it will be found everywhere at the spring festival or any wedding. This color is also easy to be found in the forbidden city. This wall is not far from the north exit of the Forbidden City.

Red will also be featured in the next pictures showing wishes.

Comme de nombreuses autres célébrations païennes, Noël est devenu utilisé par la religion chrétienne, au point qu'il y a de très importantes messes en ce jour. De même le père noël rouge est uen création moderne qui nous vient de Coca-Cola. en Chine, le rouge est la couleur de la chance et de la joie et est facile à trouver un peu partout, notamment au nouvel an chinois ou à n'importe quel mariage. Cette couleur est également facile à trouver dans la Cité Interdite. Ce mur se trouve à proximité de la sortie nord.

Le rouge sera aussi très présent dans les prochaines photos qui auront une orientation culturelle.

What you can see in the background of the first picture is the dagobah from Behai park. The background of the third picture shows Jingshan park. Both are located at the north of the Forbidden City.

I don't remind I've seen any buddhist temple for the 2 visits I did at Pingyao's old city. Anyway, may it be Buddha, Confucius or Tao, almost the temples are all built with the same structure, the main differences being the statues inside the buildings. Maybe that is a consequence of the feng-shui principles ? To see a different kind of taoist temple, go the temple of Heaven in Beijing where square and circle shapes are put together to show the union between the heaven and the earth.

.Je ne me souviens pas avoir vu un seul temple bouddhiste dans la vieille ville de Pingyao. De toute façon, que ce soit, Bouddha, Confucius ou Tao, presque tous les temples sont conçus avec la même structure, la différence principale résident dans les statues. Peut-être est-ce une conséquence de l'application des principes du feng-shui ? Pour voir un temple taoïste vraiment différent, visitez les temple des Cieux à Pekin, ou les formes carrées et circulaires sont associées pour symboliser l'union du ciel et de la terre.

After the catholic church, and just after the dragon wall is a an ancient confucian school. There you will find a dissertation written by a student for his final examination. Written centuries ago. Its calligraphy is nearly perfect.

Après l'église catholique et juste après le mur aux dragons vous trouverez une ancienne école confucéenne. On peut y trouver une dissertation rédigée par un étudiant pour son examen final il y a plusieurs siècles. La calligraphie y est proche de la perfection.

Near the east gate of Pingyao's old city, we can find this catholic church, made with the same stone as all the other buildlings. I'm not sure wether this is still being used nowadays.

Pingyao's old city is aproximately a 2 km large square. The two first pictures are shot at the south exit. The two last ones at the north exit. Shanxi is famous in China for producing coal, and many people, including some hotels, use it to heat their homes. It can easily be seen on the last picture where I used the flash. Then, no wonder why the air is so smelly sometimes and why the throat remains a bit aching and why we cough more than usual.

La vieille ville de Pingyao est approximativement un carré de 2 km de coté. les deux premières photos ont été prises à la sortie sud. Les deux dernières à la sortie nord. La province de Shanxi est célèbre en Chine pour sa production de Charbon. De nombreuses personnes ainsi que quelques hotels s'en servent pour se chauffer. cela peut aisément se voir sur al dernière photo ou j'ai utilié le flash. A partir de là, il n'y a plus besoin de se demander pourquoi l'air est parfois si nauséabond, la gorge est irritée et la toux vient facilement.

First of all, those pictures, except the first one, are not shot by myself but by a relative on was standing on my right. This is just showing a part of the procession. The familly members were several hundreds walking together with this old man who passes away.

I had been told this part of China was known also for its underground livings. As we reach the north wall of this huge mansion, I can see it by my eyes. I have no idea of what's on the left of the last picture. This is undegoing some heavy refurbishment and is not open.

On m'avait dit que cette partie de la Chine était connue pour ses habitations troglodytiques. Alors que nous atteignons le mur nord de cette énorme résidence, je peux le voir de mes propres yeux. Je n'ai aucune idée de ce qui se trouve sur la gauche de la dernière photo. Il y a un énorme de travail de restauration en cours et ce n'esrt pas ouvert au public.

On another topic, although more than 500 people registered as follower of this blog, I had had very few visites every week, for about 6 months to 1 year. Hardly 3 to 5 per day, in average. Maybe other european countries I was visiting do not interest people a lot , Anyway, since I started posting pictures of my latest trip to China, often 15 to 20 visits now happen a daily basis in my blog. Although I'm far from the most popular blog, this is very satisfying to see people coming back. I passed the 60.000 visits few days ago, and I hope to keep doing this until I reach 70.000.

Pretty sure to happen in 2012 are a 1 week trip to Italy / San marino / Vaticano, a trip to China and Tibet, and I'm considering Finland and Russia (or maybe Finland only depending on the money).

Future visits will tell if Italy is as popular as Asia.

Sur un autre plan, bien que plus de 500 personnes se soient inscrites à ce blog, j'ai eu très peu de visites chaque semaine, depuis 6 mois à an. a peine 3 à 5 par jour, en moyenne. Peut-être que les autres pays europpéens visités n'intéressent que peu les gens. Quoi qu'il en soit, depuis que des photos de ce voyage sont apparues, j'ai constaté une nette augmentation des visites, de 15 à 20 par jour. Bien que je soit loin des blogs les plus populaires, il est très satisfaisant de voir les gens revenir. J'ai franchi le cap des 60.000 visites il y a peu, et j'espère poursuvre au moins jusque 70.000.

Ce qui est déjà bien angagé dans la préparation pour 2012 : un voyaged'une semaine en Itaie : St Marin / Vatican, un voyage Chine/Tibet et je songe à Finlande / Russie (ou Finlande seulement en fonction de ce qui me restera).

A japanese photographer friend was telling me, years ago, that the artist work is something very selfish since artists do only what they want, and share what they want. To what I replied it's not selfish since the artists share their work with other people. Probably both are right. Wang's mansion is something really huge - those 3 pics only come from the sons area. And this area probably got more than 100 rooms or small buildlings. I can't feel satisfied with most of the pictures I shot there and don't feel like sharing them with you. About a hundred of them will remain on my computer as memories. Here are anyway 3 of those pictures I can feel more or less satisfied with.

A ami photographe japonais m'a dit, il y a quelques années, que le travail d'artiste était quelque chose de très égoïste dans la mesure où les artistes ne font que ce qu'ils veulent, et partagent seulement ce qu'ils veulent. Ce à quoi j'ai répondu que non puisqu'ils partageaient avec d'autres. Les deux sont probablement vrais. La résidence Wang est quelque chose d'énorme; ces trois photos ne proviennent que de la aprtie réservée au fils. Et cette zone comporte probablement plus de 100 pièces et bâtiments. je ne suis pas satisfait e la plupart des photos que j'y ai prises et ne me sens pas les partager avec vous. This temple was made about 1400 years ago. It is a combination of cultural relics and beautiful landscapes... hidden by the rainy clouds when I visited. There you will find some thousand year old trees and a buildling wich will soon celebrate also its 1000th anniversary.

You can reach it by using the bus line 804. The ride will take about 1 hour from the Taiyuan train station and costs 2,5 yuans. From the last bus stop, keep walking along the road and cross the garden on your right side or bargain a ride with the locals waiting for turists there.

Ce temple remonte a environ 1400 ans. Il s'agit d'uen combinaison de reliques culturelles et de jolis paysages... cachés par les nuages de pluie lors de la visite. On pourra trouver des arbres millénaires, de même qu'un bâtiment qui fêtera bientôt son millénaire lui aussi.

Vous pouvez l'atteindre en prenant le bus 804. Depuis la gare de Taiyuan, il faut environ 1 heure et 2,5 yuans. Depuis le dernier arrêt de bus, suivez la route et traverser le jardin que vous trouverez sur votre droite ou bien négociez un transport avec les personnes attendant les touristes.

The first picture was shot in Yunnan already a few years ago. The 3 next ones were shot in Pingyao about 10 days ago. I'm now back in France, and still need time to tidy and organize what was shot during those 17 days.

Those days, surprising things happened. The first one was a few days ago, in the train going from Pingyao to Taiyuan. A peasant saw me and seemed to be very fascinated and started chatting (with my wife's help for the translation), although he had been drinking a lot of strong alcohol. After some minutes, he asked for a picture with me. Not a picture he can have as he doesn't own any computer. Just for the memory of having been shot together with a french man. At the same time, some of the other passengers were still wondering wether France belongs to Europe or America.

Two days ago, as I was walking in the prince Gong's mansion in Beijing, a high-school or university girl suddenly began to talk to me about school project and asked if I agreed to be shot on picture with her. I misunderstood and said yes and in the next seconds, about 30 shouting crazy girls ran to me and stayed around me to be on the pictures with the me.

Am I becoming a star in China ?

Ces jours, plusieurs choses surprenantes se sont produites. La première a eu lieu il y a quelques jours, dans le train qui relie Pingyao à Taiyuan. Un paysan m'a vu et, apparement fasciné, a commencé à discuter, avec l'aide de ma femme pour la traduction, bien qu'il ait bu avant une certaine quantité d'alcool fort auparavant. Après quelques minutes il a demandé à être pris en photo avec moi. Pas une photo qu'il garderait puisqu'il n'a pas d'ordinateur. Juste pour le souvenir d'avoir été pris en photo avec un français. Pendant ce temps, les autres passagers ont continué de se demander si la France faisait partie de l'Europe ou de l'Amerique.

Il y a deux jours, alors que je me promenais dans la résidence du prince Gong, à Pekin, une jeune lycéenne ou étudiante m'a abordé en me parlant d'un projet d'études auquel je n'ai rien compris et m'a demandé si j'acceptais d'être pris en photo avec elle. Je n'ai pas tout compris et ai accepté. Et soudainement ce sont 30 jeunes femmes qui se sont précipitées sur moi en criant et riant pour figurer sur la photo en ma compagnie.

Serais-je en train de devenir une star en Chine ?

I've been back to China for about already 10 days. After some familly days with my wife relative, we went to travel to Shanxi province, more precisely to Taiyuan and Pingyao. I had already been to Taiyuan, a 4.000.000 people city, but just for 2 hours for a train connection. This time I managed to visit the Jinci temple area. I also came back to Pingyao. I had already been to this city about 2 years ago, but also managed at discovering new things I hadn't seen before, incuding Wang's Compound, located in Jingsheng Town, about 1 hour in the south of Pingyao.

If I find the time to tidy my pictures as well as a decent computer screen, I'll begin to upload them on this blog before going back home.

As a teaser, here is a picture from Pingyao by night.

Je suis revenu en Chine depuis déjà une dizaine de jours. Après quelques jours consacrés à la belle-famille, nous sommes allés voyager dans la province du Shanxi, et plus précisement à Taiyuan et Pingyao. J'avais déjà mis les pieds à Taiyuan, une ville de 4 millions d'habitants mais juste pour deux heures entre deux trains. Cette fois-ci j'ai visité la zone du temple Jinci. Je suis également revenu à Pingyao, déjà visitée il y a environ 2 ans. Je suis là aussi parvenu à visiter de nouvelles choses, avec en particulier la gigantesque résidence de la famille Wang, située dans la ville de Jingsheng, à environ 1 heure de voiture au sud de Pingyao.

Si je trouve le temps d'organiser mes photos, de même qu'un écran d'ordinateur correct, je commencerais à les partager sur le blog avant mon retour en France.

From Andorra to China

Finally, my last post about Andorra is the one who got the most comments. I've not been able tot visit everything in this small country but I succeeded in getting to aproimately 2/3 of the monuments there, knowing they are almost nothing but those small and charming stone churches in wich you can't enter. There was also another centuries old bridge left.

Tomorrow I'll be flying to China. And, if for a change I don't forget my wire, I'll be able to post pictures from there. As access to blogspot is blocked there, I won't be able to correct my numerous typo mistakes or publish your comments until I'm back home in France. As well, I won't be able to acess your posts.

Finalement, mon dernier message au sujet de l'Andorre est celui qui aura reçu le plus de commentaires. Je n'ai pas tout pu visiter dans ce petit pays, mais je suis parvenu à visiter environ 2/3 de ses monuments, sachant qu'il ne s'agit quasiment que de ces vieilles et charmantes églises de pierre dans lesquelles on ne peut entrer. Il me restait aussi un autre pont multi centenaire.

Demain je m'envole pour la Chine. Et, si, pour changer, je n'oublie pas mon câble, je serais en mesure de poster quelques photos depuis là-bas. Comme l'accès à blogspot est bloqué, là-bas, je en serais pas en mesure de corriger mes fautes de frappe, pas plus que de publier vos éventuels commentaires avant que je sois de retour en France. De même, je ne pourrais accéder à vos blogs.

This valley is now a world heritage, and the only one in Andorra. More informations here. Very charming, its needs several days to walk along all its mountain footpaths. I just saw a small part of it.

Here we are now in Andorra's capital., wich is full of shops, with very narrow streets going between buildlings, and reminds both Monaco and Vaduz (Liechtenstein's capital, near Switzerland). Andorra is famous for cheap fuel, cigarettes and alcohol. It deserves to be visited also for its ancient buildlings and landscapes.

Nous voici maintenant dans la capitale de l'Andorre, qui est pleine de magasins, avec des rues très étroites qui serpentent tant bien que mal entre les immeubles, et m'évoque à la fois monaco et Vaduz (la capitale de Liechtenstein, près de la Suisse). It's been 2 weeks since I last posted a picture. I've been very busy by all sort of things, but finally here is the first post about this small mountain country. Andorra is divided into parishes, and parishes have all several villages. Canillo is the parish we slept and this church is the first one we visited.
Cela fait déjà ddeux semaines écoulées depuis la derière photo postée ici. Je me suis retrouvé très occuppé par toute sortes de choses, mais voici finalement le premier post au sujet de ce petit pays de montagne. l'Andorre est divisée en paroisses, lesquelles ont plusieurs villages. I'll keep on posting old pictures of places I visit over the past years (pictures published on my former blog and lost when microsoft decided to stop its blogging activity). Those pictures cover : England, Belgium, Germany and Spain.

The next travel plans will make me travel back to Asia and China with my wife for some familly moments. Next year, a trip to Italy is already planed, including 2 others of the smallest countries in the world : San marino and Vatican (to be honnest you just need to visit Roma in order to Vaticano).

But before all of this, I'll be visiting very soon and over a week end, another of the smallest countries of the world, a mountain country located between Spain and France : Andorra.

Je vais continuer de poster des photos de mes voyages au cours des dernières années ( des photos publiées sur l'ancien blog et perdues lorsque microsoft a décidé de cesser sa plate-forme de blog). ces photos concernent L'Angleterre, la Belgique, l'Allemagne et l'Espagne.
Mes prochains projets de voyage m'amèneront de nouveau en Asie en chine pour quelques instants consacrés à la famille. L'année prochaine, un voyage est déjà prévu en Italie, incluant deux autres des plus petits pays du monde : Saint Marin et le Vatican (pour être honnête il suffit de visiter Rome pour visiter le Vatican).
Mais avant ça, je visiterais très bientôt, et durant un week end, un autre des plus petits pays du monde, un pays de montagne situé entre la France et l'Espagne : l'Andorre.

There must be a curse about me going to London to shoot pictures. The first time I went there I had forgot my camera. And the second time I realised that my digital camera had a very poor quality, scanning so slowly for any pic. Wich, for a hand held camera, changes the shape of the finalt result, compared to reality (check the car on one of the pictures). Anyway, here is what you can see in london, if you look for something else but shops. Most of those monuments are located along the Thames river : Westminster abbey, Big Ben, the House of Parliament, the London tower, Buckingham palace and garden and the Tower bridge. Need to go back there someday to visit again and shoot decent pictures.

Il doit y avoir une malédiction à mon encontre et celles de photos que je prends à Londres. La première fois j'ai oublié mon appareil photo, et la seconde, je me suis rendu compte de la piètre qualité de celui que j'avais avec moi, scannant tellement lentement que pour ce qui est pris sans support, l'image finale est déformée par rapport à la réalité (cherchez une voiture sur l'une des photos). De toute façon, voici un panel de ce que vous pouvez y voir, la plupart des monuments étant localisée à proximité de la Tamise : l'Abbaye de Westminster, Big Ben, les maisons du Parlement, le palais de buckingham et leur jardin, la Tour de Londres, et le Tower Bridge. J'ai besoin d'y retourner pour y prendre des photos dignes de ce nom.

Despite the summer season, wind and cold waves made me ending with a flu after staying at the front of the ship like a famous actor did in Titanic. Unrealistic movie ! Beside this, loch means lake and there is no monster on this lake.
En dépis de la saison estivale, le vent et les vagues m'ont donné la grippe après que je sois resté à l'avant du navire comme un célèbre acteur l'a fait dans le film Titanic. Film dénué de tout réalisme ! En dehors de ça, loch signifie lac et il n'y a pas de monstre dans ce lac.

This was built about 2000 years ago to carry water on the top of it. I used to bath under this world heritage bridge when I was a kid. More than 25 years later it changed so much and became a huge sightseeing and commercial place.
Ceci fut consytruit il y a environ 2000 an pour le transport de l'eau. J'avais l'habitude de me baigner sous ce pont classé au patrimoine mondial de l'humanité. Plus de 25 ans après tout a bien changé. C'est maintenant une grande atraction touristique et commerciale.

I originally came to Tournai to visit its world heritage cathedral. But it's under sucha heavy refurbishment, both inside and outside, that I quickly went out, and got nothing good to show you.

Like the Roskilde cathedral in Denmark, princes and lords of Monaco have been burried here for several centuries. I'd have loved to visit inside and share it with you, but traffic jams made me waste hours and it was already closed when I finally made it there.

2nd and 3rd photos were shot from the top of the buidling shown on the 1st one... shot through a window. This buildling is the Generals Motors'one. On the 2nd, you can see the baseball stadium where I saw the local team - the Detroit Lions - loosing their game this evening, and local supporters soon felt more interested in queuing ages to buy a hotdog rather than watching this poor game.
Les 2nde et 3eme photos ont été prises depuis le sommet du bâtiment montré sur la 1ere, le siège de la general Motors. Et sur la 2nde, vous pouvez-voir le stade de abseball de la 4eme photo, dasn lequel j'ai vu l'équipe locale les - Detroit Lions - perdre leur match, et les supporters locaux être très rapidement intéressés par une queue de plusieurs heures pour l'achat d'un hotdog que pour le déroulement de la partie.

Next week end I shall be visiting a city wich is also the second smallest country in the world (I mean Monaco) and I'll publish pictures from it, then. Then I'll be back at sharing some pictures from countries I visited some years ago, but didn't publish yet here.
The next trip abroad is planed for November, once more in China, and possibly with a stay in Hunan province.
Je suis finalement parvenu à finir de partager les photos de ce voyage en Islande. Le week end prochain je devrais visiter une ville qui est aussi le deuxième plus petit pays du monde (je veux dire Monaco) en partagerais alors ensuite les photos. Ensuite je recommencerais à partager les photos de pays visités quelques années auparavant, mais pas encore publiées ici.
Le prochain évritable voyage à l'étranger est prévu pour Novembre en Chine, une fois de plus, avec possiblement un séjour dans la province du Hunan.

Iceland - Geysir

Not so far away from yesterday's waterfall, is a place called Geysir. Natural very hot springs are waiting for you, there, hot enough to cook your food. And there's also a geyser. Not regular, never similar twice in a row like the one I saw in Japan, always impressive and enjoyable to watch it jumping to the sky. The water is so hot that it turns to steam before falling on the ground. The hole is always filled with water coming from the first blue springs appearing on this post.
Pas si loin de la churte d'eau de la veille, se trouve un lieu nommé Geysir. Une source d'eau naturellement très chaude vous y attends, suffisement chaude pour cuire votre nourriture. Et il ya aussi un geyser. Pas régulier, jamais le même deux fois de suite comme celui que j'ai vu au Japon, toujours impressionant et agréable à regarder jaillir vers le ciel. L'eau est si chaude qu'elle se change en vapeur avant de retomber sur le sol. le trou est rempli par l'eau venant es sources chaudes et bleues apparaissant au début de ce post.

This is about an hour long walk from the road to get to this waterfall where the rocks look like an upside-down Ireland's Giant Causeway.
Il faut environ une heure de marche depuis la route pour atteindre cette chute d'eau où les roches ressemblent à une marche de géants d'Irlande sens dessus-dessous.

Yes, ice is black on the third picture, actually covered with ashes because of a local volcano wich disturbed the flights in Europe not so long ago.
Oui, la glace est noire sur la troisième photo, en fait couverte de cendres par un volcan local qui a interrompu les vols en Europe il n'y a pas si longtemps.

This is the largest glacier lagoon in Iceland. The last picture shows the black sand from the seaside. The laggon is a few hundreds meters away.
Il s'agit de la plus grande lacune glaciaire d'Islande. La dernière photo montre le sable noir de la plage. La lagune est à quelques centaines de mètres.
