Like most of the countries in Europe, Luxembourg suffured from the second world war and honnor its dead people who fought for freedom, no matter their religion or political preferences.

Comme la plupart des pays d'Europe, le Luxembourg a souffert de la seconde guerre mondiale et honnore ses morts qui ont combattu pour la liberté, sans se préocupper de religion ou d'orientation politique.

Europe

Yesterday was the last of the pictures from trip to China done in October. From tomorrow I'll start posting pictures or videos I shot in january during a short trip in western Europe. The cities I went to are Luxembourg, Triers and Essen. And contrary to what some tought, Luxembourg is a country on itw own, and not a part of Germany. Actually, the full name is "Grand Duché de Luxembourg".

J'ai posté hier la dernière photo tirée de mon voyage d'octobre dernier en Chine. A partir de demain je commencerais à poter les photos d'un court voyage en Europe de l'Ouest. Les villes par lesquelles je suis passé sont Luxembourg, Trêves et Essen.

Chinese people love to have hot pot (this is like shabu-shabu from Japan). This one is a little different and is from musleem restaurants. There's coal in the middle, burning slowly to keep the soup boiling, while we dip pieces of food. After they cooked in the soup, we can dip it or not in the sesame sauce.

Les chinois adorent cette fondue (l'équivalent du shabu-shabu japonais). Celle-ci est un peu différente et se trouvent dans les restaurants musulmans. Il y a du charbon au milieu, brûlant doucement et maintenant l'eau bouillante pendant qu'on y trempe des morceaux de nourriture. Après avoir été cuits dans la soupe, on peut les tremper dans la sauce au sésame.

Behind the buildling I mentionned yesterday is this big one. Totally burnt about a year ago.

Derrière le bâtiment que j'ai mentionné hier se trouve celui, complètement brûlé il y a environ un an.

This Beijing's new buildling for the national television. Some internet websites says it's 230 m high. Its architecture is quite interesting.

Voici le nouvel immeuble Pekinois pour la télévision nationale. Quelques sites internets disent qu'il fait 230 m de haut. Son architecture est plutôt intéressante.

Here is this electricity net, facing the restaurant I was talking about yesterday. One could think spiderman played some tricks on the local electricity network.

Voici une toile électrique, en face du restaurant dont je parlais hier. On pourrait penser que spiderman a fait une blague avec le réseau électrique local.

Somewhere in Beijing, my girlfriend and I went to a japanese restaurant. The food was not too bad. I just have a question. Why did the employees there welcome the customers entering by "an nyung aseo" wich means "hello"... in korean language ?

Quelquepart dans pekin, ma copine et moi sommes allés dans un restaurant japonais. La nourriture n'était pas trop mauvaise. J'ai juste une question. Pourquoi les employés accueillent-ils les clients entrant dans l'établissement par "an nyung aseo" qui signifie "bonjour".... en coréen ?

Here is a view if Pingyao's roof. At least the medieval part of the city. This is surrounded by concrete buildings like any other modern city is Asia. Far away, you can see the central tower from the post "Pingyao 15".

Voici une vue des toîts de Pingyao. Au moins la partie médiévale de la ville. Tout est entouré d'immeubles de béton comme dans n'importe quelle autre ville moderne d'Asie. Au loin, vous pouvez voir la tour centrale du billet "Pingyao 15".

There and there, on the wall i mentionned yesterday, we can find those trowers.

Such a blue sky is a benediction for who wishes to shoot picture outside.

No, that's not the great wall of China everybody heard about. This one is far too small. What you can see is a part of the wall wich protected Pingyao's medieval city from the ennemies. The picture was shot from outside the city.

Non ce n'est pas la grande muraille de Chine dont tout le monde a entendu parler. Celle-ci est bien trop petite. Ce que vous pouvez voir n'est qu'une partie des remparts qui protégeaient Pingyao des ennemis. La photo a été prise de l'extérieur de la cité.

Another of those charming and ancient constructions in Pingyao. I think it was the courtyard of one of the banks there.

Une autre de ces constructions anciennes et charmantes. Je pense qu'il s'agissait de l'arrière-cour d'une des banques.

Most of the things we can visit in Pingyao are banks from the past centuries. What you can see on this picture is the room where money was kept. Those shiny things are the "coins" used at that time. One of those coins was worth a lot of money and wealth.

La plupart des choses que l'on peut visiter à Pingyao sont des banques des siècles passés. Ce que vous pouvez voir sur cette photo est la salle dans laquelle l'argent était conservé. Ces choses brillantes sont les "pièces" de l'époque. Une seule de ces pièces représentait beaucoup d'argent et donc une certaine réussite sociale.

If I hadn't known how ancient is Pingyao medieval part, I could think this corroded bicycle is even older than the house.

Si je n'avais pas su combien était ancienne la partie médiévale de Pingyao, j'aurais pu penser que ce vélo rouillé était plus vieux que la maison.

We're here in the centre of Pingyao's ancient city. Everything is quiet, far from the usual noise of China.

Nous sommes ici au centre de la vieille ville de Pingyao. Tout y est calme, loin du bruit habituel de la Chine.

I'll be off for a short trip in Europe to those two countries, if ever the snow falls allow me to drive safely. I'll be then back to share with you the last pictures from my October trip to China. Then there should be pictures from this short trip. Then I guess the ones interested in Japan will discover some pictures I shot in this country.

Je serais absent pour un court voyage en Europe dans ces deux pays, si jamais les chutes de neige me permettent de conduire en sécurité. Je rentrerais pour finir de partager les dernières photos de mon voyage d'Octobre en Chine. Il devrait ensuite y avoir des photos de ce court voyage. Je suppose qu'ensuite ceux d'entre vous qui sont intéressés par le Japon pourront découvrir certaines de mes photos prises là-bas.

This was the roof of a kung fu master's house. Considering all of those pogeons sleeping quietly, we can imagine how safe they feel.

Voici le toît de la demeure d'un ancien maître de kung fu. A voir ces pigeons dormir tranquillement, on peut imaginer à quel point ils se sentent en sécurité.

Pingyao is a very dry place. Roofs all face the courtyard to collect the rainwaters rather let it be wasted by going in the streets.

Pingyao est un endroit très sec. Les toîts sont tous tournés vers la cour intérieure pour collecter l'eau de pluie plutôt que la gâcher en la laissant aller dans les rues.
