Italy - Rome - Sant Angelo castle and bridge and future of this blog

Mar. 2012

This castle and the bridge next to it, both named after Sant Angelo, are close to Vatican city-state. This is where our trip to the Italian peninsula ended 8 months ago, in the very end fo March 2012. We visited what is officially considered as 3 countries and 4 cities : Venice and Rome in Italy, Vatican city-state and San Marino republic. As well a being the last post about this trip to Italy, this is the last post of the year.
I'll come back in 2013 to share about the trip I had to China in july 2012 where I discovered Tianjin, a very modern city with a lot of european influences, and Wutaishan, a world heritage area as well as a highly spiritual place for buddhists, as this is one of the 4 sacred buddhists mountains of China.
after that, if everything goes well, I'll be visiting the southern part of Finland in May.

Have a happy new year celebration!
Passez de bonnes fêtes de fin d'année !

Italy - venice - The bridge of Sighs

Mar 2012 (except the google maps)

Here is the famous Bridge of Sighs over the Rio Palazzo, linking the court from the Doge palace to the prison. The 2 next pictures are shot from the same location, looking back at where i'm coming from (see previous posts). Finally there's a map of everything I've been showing for the last weeks.

Italy - venice - Rialto bridge

Mar. 2012

This bridge is located over the largest channel, in the center of Venice and is one of the famous attractions there. It was difficult to build, and several bridges made before this one collapsed so that some people, at that time,  said things like "a nail will grow on my penis before a bridge can be made here".

Like a bridge over troubled water

Aug 2006

That's what Simon and Garfunkel could say, but I guess the youngest ones never heard about this beautiful song. I'm leaving soon for a well deserved 1 week vacation. Many things are going on in my life, now, many changes are on the way and I really need to rest my mind.
Those bridges are from Beijing suburbs.

Luxembourg 08 - bridge

Jan 2010 - Petrusse valley
Two bridges cross this small canyon. They gave me the wrong feeling that the place from where I took the first pictures is an island.

China - Keyan - Like a bridge over troubled water

May / Mai 2005
This one was shot in Keyan. This place is located close from Shaoxing / Hangzhou. I was having lunch with a friend in a restaurant when a group of old chinese turists (about 40) finished eating, got up and walked to the exit. They walked one by one in the narrow aisle and each of them looked at my face, one by one, with a lot of astonishment on their faces. I first wondered if I had some spinach between my teeth when smiling or whatever. Then I felt coming from another planet. Until my chinese friend explains me there are not a lot of turists going to this place. Those old people had probably never seen any european face elsewhere than on TV before this day.
