Tai chi practice

July / Juillet 2009
There are several ways when people decide to practice some tai chi in the Temple of Heaven. Those ones were among 6 or 7 people doing the same choregraphy. Actually, those ones looked like a dance more than a martial art, contrary to the few practitionner I shown a few days ago.

Still tai chi

July 2009
If you watched yesterday's video, you probably saw this man walking in the background. He started his own practice a few minutes after a finished shooting the video, before joining everyone for the class.

Taichi practice

July 2009

Early in the morning, around 06:00 or 07:00, many people come to the Temple of Heaven to practice some dance, traditionnal music or different styles of tai chi. Here is a short video of a skilled master having a personal practice with one of the students before starting a group class. The kind of exercise shown on this video is also used in some aikido classes.

China - Hangzhou - Taichi at the West Lake

May / Mai 2005
In China, if you're lucky you'll find some people practicing quietly some taichi or qigong in places looking beautifull. I saw a few trying to remain quiet in the temple of heaven, in Beijing, while my girlfriend was trying to make me fall and laughed loudly. The people on the picture were practicing near the West Lake, in Hangzhou. For those of you who travelled to China and think "I never saw tis West lake", you're wrong. The west lake is actually shown on the 1 yuan notes from the chinese currency.
