China - Wutaishan 11 - Dailuoding temple

Jul. 2012

In China, Japan, South Korea... and I guess other countries, this almost never allowed to shoot pictures of buddha in the temples we can visit. But on the left side of the main praying hall of this temple was this curious and short statue. More curiously, this is a blue one. Considering how ugly this is, I guess this is supposed to scare the evil and prevent from disturbing budda' quietness.
The second pictures shows a lot of wishes tied to a tree.

  1. I love the tree with the red ribbons. I saw many such trees in Thailand.

Vishnu is blue, in the paintings in India. It is true that in the Buddhist temples it is forbidden to take photos of Buddha but especially in the main halls (Japan, HK).
