China - Wutaishan 13 - red ribbons

 Jul. 2012

I use to see red ribbons near any praying location in China - I think I saw similar ways in Japan, but I don't remind very well - but not such a huge amount of it. Everybody, except maybe the tiniest women, have to bow to walk under it. For my skin already burnt by the mountain sun, those shadows were a very welcomed relief. In addition, a cool wind started to blow softly at that moment.

  3. I think you saw many red torii (gate) at shrines. Anyway I hope we will have great cherry blossoms this year and in 2014.

  4. In the last photo, red ribbons look like a huge canopy and overwhelm me!! Ⅰ am not sure about red ribbons used or not in temples in Japan. But I have seen many "one thousand folded paper cranes on a string" being hung.
    Have a great week!

  5. Yes, what I was thinking about Japan is the thousand papers on cranes, maybe in shinto temples.
