Carved landscape

Many monuments like the Temple of Heaven or the Forbidden City are like this : two stairs separated by flat carvings. This one shows mountains and clouds. The next one must have a flying dragon.
De nombreux monuments tels que le Temple des Cieux ou la Cite Interdite sont ainsi : deux escaliers séparés par des sculptures aplaties. Celle-ci montre des montagnes et des nuages. La suivante montre un dragon volant.

That's not a ceiling, over the ice buildings. Just a protection.

Au-dessus de ces sculptures, ce n'est pas un plafond. Juste une couverture tendue.

I often feel frustrated that, for some reason, I can't step back enough to make a pic of the whole thing when I find an interesting angle.
I me souvens frustré quand, pour une raison ou une autre je ne parviens pas à reculer suffisement pour une faire une photo complète de mon sujet.

China - Longqing - An ancient ice city

The first part had only sculptures. The second one, once we go over the ice-wall and look through the gate, is awesome. I discovered a complete city made of ice, with an old architecture style.

Si la première partie n'est faite que de sculptures, passé le mur de glace, lorsque je regarde par la porte, la seconde partie est impressionante! J'ai découvert une ville à l'architecure ancienne sculptée dans la glace !

This is one of the numerous sculptures that you can see on the first part of the exhibition. There are also several snow sculptures, all damaged by kids climbing on it and waiting for their parents to make pictures. The wall behind is made of snow, of course.

Voici l'une des nombreuses sculptures présentées sur la première partie de l'exposition. Il y a également plusieurs sculptures de neige, toute endommagées par les enfants qui grimpent dessus pour se faire prendre en photo par leurs parents. Bien sûr, le mur derrière est constitué de neige.

Longqing

A environ 1 ou 2 heures en voiture au nord de Beijing, se tient la commune de Longqing avec son festival de sculptures de glace, illuminées de l'intérieur, qui se tient au pied du barrage local. C'est là que nous nous sommes rendus ce soir. Comme d'habitude des photos de cette ville de glace seront à suivre à partir de la semaine prochaine.

Located at about 1 or 2 hours by car in the north of Beijing, is the city of Longqing with its ice lanterns festival. This is where we went tonight. Pictures of this city made of ice will be shown next week, once I'll be back home.
